Lambda and B.1.621: Two new COVID-19 viruses on the rise

The United States was able to fight off the original COVID-19 variant, but now the Delta variant has much of the nation fighting to stay healthy again.

Just as matters couldn’t get any worst, many countries are experiencing two new COVID-19 variants: Lambda and B.1.621 that are worse than the Delta variant and is capable of standing up to the vaccines.

The Lambda variant is reported in South American countries of: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, and Ecuador. There are a reported 680 cases of the Lambda virus in the states of Nevada and Utah. The B.1.621 is a fairly new variant that has yet been officially been identified by the WHO (World Health Organization), therefore has yet been given an official name. Throughout the United States, the Delta variant continues to remain the dominant variant.
